How to prepare for CUET UG 2027

Prepare for CUET UG in three steps: choose your papers from the programmes you want, learn each domain paper's NCERT Class 12 syllabus alongside your boards, then practise every paper against its own 60-minute clock. Each paper is 50 questions in 60 minutes, +5 for a right answer and -1 for a wrong one. Klay Prep has 3 full-length CUET domain mocks (Mathematics, Economics and Accountancy), 15 papers of CUET previous year questions and 86 topic lessons, and a step-by-step solution to any question you ask.

Checked against NTA - CUET (UG) 2026 Information Bulletin and University of Delhi - Bulletin of Information, UG 2026-27.

What CUET rewards

The papers your programme names
CUET has three sections: a language (English is paper 101), the domain subjects, and the General Aptitude Test (paper 501). A student sits only the papers their programmes ask for. At Delhi University in 2026, B.Com (Hons) took a language, Accountancy or Mathematics, and two more domain subjects; BMS and BBA (FIA) took a language, Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, one more domain subject and the General Aptitude Test. Every university sets its own combinations, so check its bulletin before choosing.
The syllabus is NCERT
NTA's syllabus for each domain paper follows NCERT Class 12, so a Class 12 student is already studying it for the boards. What the boards do not give you is practice in CUET's format: short multiple-choice questions against the clock.
The pace
50 questions in 60 minutes is 1 minute 12 seconds a question, with no calculator. There is no time to work a question the long way twice.
The marking
+5 for a right answer, -1 for a wrong one, 0 if left. A pure guess among four options is worth +0.5 on average, +1 with one option ruled out and +2 with two, so a question left blank is almost always marks given away.

A plan around the boards

CUET comes after the Class 12 board exams, so the plan has two halves: alongside the boards, and after them.

  1. Until the boards

Learn the NCERT chapters, in MCQ form

Study each domain subject's Class 12 chapters for the boards as usual, and after each chapter solve 20 to 30 multiple-choice questions on it. Board answers are long; CUET answers are one option out of four in about a minute.

Language and the General Aptitude Test a few times a week: one reading passage a day, and a set of quantitative and reasoning questions if a programme you want takes paper 501.

Klay Prep's CUET lessons cover English, the General Aptitude Test's quant, reasoning and general knowledge, and parts of Mathematics: 86 topics in all. The CUET syllabus, topic by topic →

  2. After the boards

    Timed papers, then full mocks

The CUET-only weeks. Every day, one timed paper per subject in CUET's pace, 1 minute 12 seconds a question, and the chapter revisited for every mistake.

Then one full 60-minute mock per subject each week, reviewed question by question. In the last week, no new chapters.

Klay Prep has 15 papers of CUET previous year questions across Mathematics, Economics and Accountancy, and 3 full-length mocks, 50 questions in 60 minutes with NTA's marking. Each mock's first attempt is free. CUET mock tests →

Common questions

Can I prepare for CUET without coaching?
Yes. The domain papers follow the NCERT Class 12 syllabus a student is already studying for the boards. What is needed on top is practice in CUET's own format, 50 multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes with -1 for a wrong answer, and full mocks. Klay Prep has 3 full-length CUET domain mocks, 15 papers of previous year questions and 86 topic lessons online.
Is NCERT enough for CUET domain subjects?
For the syllabus, yes: NTA's syllabus for each domain paper follows NCERT Class 12. What NCERT does not give you is practice in CUET's format, 50 short multiple-choice questions in 60 minutes. Learn from NCERT, and practise on timed MCQ papers and mocks.
Should I guess in CUET?
Usually, yes. A right answer is +5 and a wrong one -1, so a pure guess among four options is worth +0.5 on average, and +2 once two options are ruled out.
Is there a free CUET mock test?
Yes. Klay Prep's CUET mocks (Mathematics, Economics and Accountancy) are each free to take once on a free account: 50 questions in 60 minutes with NTA's marking, and a scored result with every solution when it ends.
Which CUET subjects do I need for DU B.Com or BMS?
At Delhi University in 2026, B.Com (Hons) took a language, Accountancy or Mathematics, and two more domain subjects; BMS and BBA (FIA) took a language, Mathematics or Applied Mathematics, one more domain subject and the General Aptitude Test. Each programme sets its own combination, so check DU's bulletin for the year you apply.
What should an online CUET course or test series include?
Lessons and practice on the NCERT Class 12 syllabus of each paper you sit, previous year questions, full-length mocks on CUET's 60-minute clock and marking, and worked solutions. Klay Prep has 3 domain mocks, 15 papers and 86 lessons for CUET.
