  1. Q1Easy

    Asked in BBA DBE 2024

Choose the word to replace the word “effects” in the below sentence

Dumping medical waste into the atmosphere effects the environment, badly.

    Correct answeraffects

    Why

Affect acts, effect ends: the word after 'Dumping medical waste into the atmosphere' is the sentence's verb.

The verb for harming or influencing is affect, and one act of dumping needs the -s form; upshots is a noun, and nothing can 'reverberate the environment'.

    The replacement is 'affects'.

  2. Q2Easy

Choose the word that correctly fills the blank: The college bookshop sells notebooks, pens, files and other ________.

    Correct answerstationery

    Why

Spelling hook: stationery with an e, as in envelopes, is paper and pens.

Stationary with an a means not moving, a stationer is the person or shop that sells these things, and stationed is a verb form.

So the bookshop sells other stationery.
