Tap an option to answer. The first tap counts.

  1. Q1Easy

Choose the correct passive form: The captain lifted the trophy.

Correct answerThe trophy was lifted by the captain.

    Why

Simple past stays simple past: 'was' + past participle.

'Lifted' is simple past, so the trophy 'was lifted'; 'is', 'was being' and 'has been' each change the tense.

So the passive is 'The trophy was lifted by the captain.'

  2. Q2Easy

Choose the correct passive form: The workers are painting the hostel walls.

Correct answerThe hostel walls are being painted by the workers.

    Why

Present continuous becomes is or are + being + past participle.

'Are painting' keeps 'are' and adds 'being painted'; dropping 'being' or switching to 'were' or 'have been' changes the tense.

So the passive is 'The hostel walls are being painted by the workers.'
