  1. Q1Easy

Find the part of the sentence that has an error, or choose 'No error': There is three empty seats / in the front row / of the auditorium.

Correct answerThere is three empty seats

    Why

After 'there', the subject comes after the verb, so look ahead to it.

The subject is 'three empty seats', which is plural, so 'There is' must become 'There are'.

So the error is in 'There is three empty seats'.

  2. Q2Easy

Identify the part of the sentence that contains a grammatical error. If there is no error, choose 'No error'.

Each of the volunteers / have been given a badge / and a map of the venue.

Correct answerhave been given a badge

    Why

'Each' counts people one at a time, so it is singular, and here it is the subject.

'Of the volunteers' names the group but does not change the number, so the verb must be 'has been given'.

The faulty part is the one with 'have been given'.
